ST GEORGES
DRIVE

14   /   VI   /   2020

This ground floor flat, nestled within a Grade II Georgian listed building situated in a designated conservation area near Eccleston Square in the City of Westminster, is a testament to historical charm and contemporary transformation.

Originally, the listed building was converted into four self-contained flats at the turn of the century. Recognizing the need for a comprehensive refurbishment, including a more suitable layout for a professional couple, became apparent from the initial meeting.

CBO Architects played a pivotal role in guiding the client through the project's early stages, securing essential permissions such as Listed Building Consent, Planning approval, and Freeholder License to Alter.

Following the completion of the design stage and the successful acquisition of necessary approvals, CBO took the lead in the tendering process, providing comprehensive technical information to solicit realistic quotations from various contractors.

Throughout the construction stage, CBO served as the Contract Administrator, overseeing procurement and site supervision. The result surpassed the client's expectations—this two-double-bedroom flat underwent a complete transformation, incorporating modern and warm finishes to complement the original features, achieving a harmonious and balanced contrast.

The seating room, with its captivating view of Eccleston Square, underwent a thoughtful remodel. The introduction of bespoke joinery brought balance and proportion to the space.

The Italian-manufactured kitchen, relocated and integrated with the dining room, now exists in an open-plan arrangement, enhancing both functionality and aesthetics. The final outcome is a revitalized living space that seamlessly blends historic charm with contemporary elegance
