LONDON SW1V

JASMINE PATTERN

25   /   X   /   2012

This traditional four-bedroom flat, set within a classic stucco-fronted townhouse overlooking St George’s Square, has been carefully reimagined by CBO Architects. The project balances heritage with modernity, preserving original features while introducing fresh spatial and material interventions.

The original chevron timber flooring was meticulously restored, providing a historical anchor amid the fully refurbished interior. A new set of oak steps leads to the elevated kitchen area, subtly dividing the open-plan layout and adding warmth and rhythm to the space.

Key elements, such as outdated radiators and joinery, were replaced with bespoke spray-painted MDF panels. These feature laser-cut patterns inspired by Jasmine—a classic wallpaper design by William Morris—reinterpreted in a contemporary way to bring texture, light, and historical reference into the home.

The design embraces a minimalist sensibility while celebrating craftsmanship and detail, creating a refined and characterful living environment rooted in the building’s architectural legacy.
